Sometimes the best creative days begin with one simple idea—and this one started with an Instagram model call.
I had been wanting to create a clean, white-background studio session, so I posted that I was looking for someone interested in stepping in front of the camera. Justyna, a luxury makeup artist and educator, reached out and said she would love to be involved. We booked the session and began planning her vision.
When Justyna had trouble finding the right model, I reached out to my friend Raechel Hambly of Hambly Events to see if she might be interested. The three of us had already worked together on my wedding day: Justyna was my makeup artist, while Raechel was both my bridesmaid and wedding planner. Bringing everyone together again felt like such a natural fit.
Once Raechel was confirmed as our model, she realized she might as well make the most of the studio time and update the branding photos for her wedding planning and day-of coordination business, Hambly Events. What began as one creative studio shoot quickly grew into a full content day featuring two businesses, multiple concepts and a whole lot of collaboration.
An Early Start in Barrie
Our content day took place on September 18 and began bright and early at Justyna’s studio in Barrie for hair and makeup. After getting ready, we headed over to Nera Studio to begin shooting.
Justyna was up first. She had come prepared with her own vision and mood board, and we brought every part of it to life. We captured a mix of elevated portraits, working images and content that reflected both sides of her brand: luxury bridal beauty and artist education.
While she wasn’t in front of the camera, Raechel captured behind-the-scenes iPhone content throughout Justyna’s session. Having those candid clips added another layer to the day and gave us a look at the creativity happening on both sides of the camera.
Bringing Hambly Events to Life
Next, it was Raechel’s turn. She created a beautiful wedding tablescape for the session, giving us the perfect setting to showcase the thoughtful details and hands-on work behind Hambly Events.
We photographed her styling and working with the tablescape, along with more polished portraits and formal desk images. The result was a versatile gallery she can use throughout her website, social media and marketing for both wedding planning and day-of coordination.
This time, Justyna took over the behind-the-scenes iPhone content while also staying close by for hair and makeup touch-ups for both Raechel and me whenever we needed them.
Capturing the Full Experience
At the last minute, I decided to bring in another photographer, Sierra, to document me working throughout the day. She captured the sessions with both her camera and her phone, giving me my own behind-the-scenes content and a glimpse of what it looks like to work with Steiner & Co. from a different perspective.
Before we wrapped up, I even snuck in a few posed branding photos of my own.
What started as a single Instagram model call turned into a full day of photography, video content, styling, makeup and creative direction. Everyone stepped in to support one another—whether that meant modelling, filming behind the scenes, offering touch-ups, setting a tablescape or capturing the person usually standing behind the camera.
More than anything, the day was a reminder of how special it is to create alongside talented, supportive women. There was so much creativity in the room, but there was also plenty of laughter, encouragement and genuine excitement for one another’s businesses.
It was exactly the kind of content day I love: thoughtfully planned, collaborative and full of personality.
If your business is ready for updated imagery and a gallery of intentional content that truly feels like you, I would love to help bring your vision to life.
