Sunset Family Session
There’s something about a lavender field at sunset that makes the perfect backdrop for family photos. Soft purple rows, warm golden light, and plenty of space for little ones to explore made this session feel relaxed, natural, and completely true to this family.
As an Alliston and Simcoe County family photographer, my goal with family sessions is to create more than just the traditional everyone-looking-at-the-camera photo. I want to capture the little interactions in between—the laughs, cuddles, movement, and details that show what your family looks like in this chapter of life.
A Dreamy Lavender Field Family Session
We planned this family photography session for the evening so we could take advantage of the softer light leading into sunset. Lavender fields already bring so much colour and texture to a gallery, and pairing them with golden-hour light created the soft, warm look we were hoping for.
Rather than staying in one pose, we moved throughout the field and let the session unfold naturally. We captured a mix of full family portraits, individual moments, and candid images along the way.
This is one of the reasons I love outdoor family photography sessions. There’s room to move, play, walk, cuddle, and interact instead of feeling like everyone needs to stay perfectly posed.
Family Photos That Feel Like You
One of the biggest concerns I hear when it comes to family photos is, “What if my kids don’t cooperate?”
The good news? They don’t need to.
Some of my favourite images happen when everyone stops worrying about the camera. Your kids can explore. You can pick them up, walk together, play, laugh, or take a quiet moment together. I’ll guide you when you need it while still leaving space for the genuine moments to happen.
The goal isn’t perfection. It’s creating a gallery that feels like your family.
Why Choose a Sunset Family Photography Session?
Golden hour is one of my favourite times to photograph outdoor sessions because the light becomes softer and warmer as the sun gets lower in the sky. In a location like a lavender field, that evening light adds another layer of warmth and gives the final gallery a beautiful, timeless feel.
If you love photographs that feel natural, warm, and connected, a sunset family session in Simcoe County may be the perfect fit.

Planning Your Own Family Session
You don’t need a special occasion to update your family photos. Babies grow, kids change, and life moves quickly. Sometimes simply wanting to remember what your family looks and feels like right now is reason enough.
Steiner & Co. Photography offers family and lifestyle photography in Alliston, Simcoe County, and surrounding areas, with sessions designed to feel relaxed and intentional from planning through gallery delivery.
If you’ve been thinking about booking updated family photos, I’d love to help you plan a session that feels like you.
